Ware Designs was founded in 1977 by Master Goldsmith Stephen Ware, a jeweler who believed fine jewelry didn't need to come from a chain store or a catalog. It could be made right here, by hand, for you. Goldsmiths Stephen and Melissa carry the work forward together, a timeless, traditional craft being passed from master to apprentice. A longtime Lafayette Chamber member and multi-year Nextdoor Neighborhood Favorite, proudly local and proudly independent since 1977.

Stephen Ware begins his goldsmithing career.

1995

Ware Designs Jewelry opens its first Lafayette location.

2008

The studio moves to its current home on Mt. Diablo Blvd.

With over 40 years behind the bench, Stephen is transitioning to retirement. He leaves a legacy of diligence and integrity in the capable hands of Melissa, his apprentice of 9 years.

Melissa brings fresh creative vision and meticulous craftsmanship to every piece, specializing in redesigns, heirloom transformations, and custom fabrication. She works directly with clients on custom commissions.
